John 5:18

διὰ τοῦτο μᾶλλον ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι ἀποκτεῖναι, ὅτι οὐ μόνον ἔλυεν τὸ σάββατον, ἀλλὰ καὶ πατέρα ἴδιον ἔλεγεν τὸν θεόν, ἴσον ἑαυτὸν ποιῶν τῷ θεῷ.

Rough Word-by-word:
because of this more they were seeking him the Jews to kill, because not only he was breaking the Sabbath, but also father [is] his own he was saying the God, equal himself making to the God.

Smooth Translation:
Because of this the Jews were more seeking to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but also he was saying his own father was God, making himself equal to God.

Notes:
The present active participle ποιῶν in the predicate position is translated as action happening "at the same time" as the main verb of the clause which is ἔλεγεν. As Jesus was calling God His Father He was revealing His own Divinity. They understood this and that was their justification for seeking to kill Him.
